Dr. Dilru Amarasekera is a glaucoma specialist at Wills Eye Hospital and clinical instructor of ophthalmology at Thomas Jefferson University. She completed her undergraduate education at the Pennsylvania State University as part of a combined, accelerated BS/MD program. She received her Doctor of Medicine from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Dr. Amarasekera completed her ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital where she served as Co-Chief Resident. During residency she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor society for delivering compassionate care and awarded the Luo Family Distinguished Service Award for her leadership and excellence in patient care. Following residency, she completed a glaucoma fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital and was awarded the Rick Bay Excellence in Eyecare Education Scholarship. Dr. Amarasekera has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in prominent ophthalmology journals and has presented her research at several national conferences. She is passionate about delivering excellent, patient-centered, clinical and surgical glaucoma care.
