BrightFocus Foundation, a Maryland-based nonprofit funding research worldwide on diseases of mind and sight, today announced that wealth management expert Patricia (Trisha) McGlothlin Stewart, CFP® has joined the organization’s Board of Directors.
The Foundation continues to increase the funds its raises to drive innovative research and awareness of Alzheimer’s disease, macular degeneration, and glaucoma. During her long tenure at JPMorgan, Stewart advised high-net-worth individuals, trusts, nonprofits, and corporations. She has published numerous articles on wealth management, and advised the firm’s clients on asset allocations, spending policies, and generational planning.
“I am honored to be involved in supporting the research and education that BrightFocus provides,” said Stewart. “Having seen the devastating impact these diseases have on people of all ages—both those suffering from the disease and their families and friends—I want to do whatever I can to help in the fight for treatment and ultimately cures.”
“Our Board of Directors is pleased to have Trisha Stewart join as one of our newest members,” said BrightFocus Board Chair Scott Rodgville, CPA. “Trisha brings a wealth of business experience to the organization, as well as a passion for our mission, which I know will serve to further our goal of ending brain and eye diseases in our lifetime.”
BrightFocus recently announced $13.3 million in new research grants, a record amount for the organization. The Foundation has invested more than $36 million in scientific research in the last three years alone. BrightFocus currently manages a portfolio of over 175 research projects worldwide.
