BrightFocus Foundation Appoints David Lowing as Senior Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations

David Lowing

BrightFocus Foundation, a premier global nonprofit funder of research to defeat Alzheimer’s disease, macular degeneration, and glaucoma, has named David Lowing as its inaugural senior director of corporate and foundation relations.

Lowing brings nearly two decades of experience in corporate and foundation relations and grant management, most recently serving as chief institutional relations officer at Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation. At BrightFocus, Lowing will expand institutional partnerships, engage new industry sectors, and enhance public awareness of BrightFocus’ groundbreaking research initiatives.

“I am grateful to join BrightFocus and advance its mission of funding innovative scientific research to discover cures for diseases of mind and sight. As someone who has directly experienced these diseases in the lives of loved ones, I am honored to bring my experience in nurturing genuine relationships and partnerships to the organization,” he said.

“We are thrilled to welcome David to BrightFocus at this pivotal time in our mission to end diseases of mind and sight,” said President and CEO Stacy Pagos Haller. “His proven track record in building transformative partnerships and securing critical funding will help advance groundbreaking research and drive even greater impact for those affected by these diseases.”

Prior to his tenure at Conquer Cancer, Lowing spent 11 years at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), where he played a pivotal role in corporate engagement and philanthropic growth. He launched CHOP’s first-ever Corporate Council, successfully recruiting nearly 90 executives over several years, and raised a combined $150 million which included a multi-million-dollar endowment. Additionally, he served as a development liaison for CHOP’s Global Health Program and chief scientific officer.

Earlier in his career, Lowing served as the associate director of grant and foundation relations at the American Diabetes Association. He holds a BA in communication studies from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and an MA in media, culture, and communication from New York University.
