BrightFocus Foundation’s 2024 research portfolios highlight the active biomedical research projects the Foundation is supporting across the globe to advance cures for Alzheimer’s disease, macular degeneration, and glaucoma.  

These projects are rigorously selected by a committee of world-renowned scientists who serve on the Foundation’s Scientific Review Committees to reflect the most innovative and promising ideas that will advance our understanding of these diseases of mind and sight. 

BrightFocus is deeply grateful to its donors, whose generosity empowers the next generation of researchers to pursue innovative, bold, and promising science, bringing us closer to novel treatments, prevention strategies, and cures for Alzheimer’s disease, macular degeneration, and glaucoma.

Alzheimer’s Disease Research 

Alzheimer’s Disease Research is supporting 112 grants examining the disease’s onset, progression, and treatments.

Macular Degeneration Research is supporting 49 grants exploring the root causes and potential prevention, treatment, and cure of macular degeneration.
