Biography
Dr. Weiming Mao received his bachelor’s degree in medicine at Fudan University in 2001 and was an ophthalmology resident at Shanghai First People’s Hospital. He joined the Vision Science Graduate Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham as a PhD student in 2003, where his graduate research focused on retinal development.
After obtaining his PhD degree, Dr. Mao received his postdoctoral training in glaucoma research at University of North Texas Health Science Center, where he became a research assistant professor in 2011 and then an assistant professor in 2013. Dr. Mao joined Department of Ophthalmology at Indiana University School of Medicine as an associate professor in 2018. He is currently the Jay C. and Lucile L. Kahn Scholar in Glaucoma Research and Education.
