When the Lafayette College men’s basketball team recently took the court versus American University, more than a game was on the line.
Honoring his grandfather who had recently passed away from Alzheimer’s, Lafayette guard Cal Reichwein (Doylestown, PA) dedicated the game to supporting scientific research through BrightFocus Foundation’s Alzheimer’s Disease Research program.
Not only did Lafayette win their game 82-70, but it nearly doubled its fundraising goal, with $4,681 generously donated by the Lafayette community.
“It is truly inspiring to see family, friends, and teammates come together to join us in the fight against Alzheimer’s. On behalf of the scientists around the world whose innovative work is made possible by our donors, thank you for your support,” said BrightFocus President and CEO Stacy Pagos Haller.
“Alzheimer’s exacts a staggering human and financial toll. Through research, we will slow, treat, and ultimately end this disease. At the same time, through greater public awareness, we can help people better understand and manage their brain health.”
