BrightFocus Foundation Statement on the Passing of Peter Davies, PhD

The following statement was issued by Diane Bovenkamp, PhD, BrightFocus Foundation Vice President for Scientific Affairs:

BrightFocus Foundation mourns the recent passing of Peter Davies, PhD.  A globally-recognized leader in research on Alzheimer’s and related dementia, Dr. Davies served on our Scientific Review Committee for this field for 11 years, including six years as its chair.

Through this role, Dr. Davies left a lasting legacy of pivotal, early career support for a generation of promising Alzheimer’s researchers, many of whom have gone on to achieve great scientific distinction and impact.  He believed strongly in the power of innovation, opening up the Alzheimer’s research field to new and more diverse approaches to ending this disease.

Peter Davies was a scientific pioneer, a generous mentor, and a catalyst for innovation and collaboration.  He will be greatly missed.
