BrightFocus Foundation Adds to Scientific Team

Clarksburg MD – BrightFocus Foundation, a premier source of private research funding to defeat Alzheimer’s disease, macular degeneration, and glaucoma, today announced the addition of Sharyn Rossi, PhD, to its senior staff as the organization’s new Director of Scientific Programs, Neuroscience.
Dr. Rossi comes to BrightFocus from the National Institutes of Health, where she played an integral role on National Institute on Aging projects related to the impact of aging on the brain. She holds a PhD from the University of California, Irvine and completed postdoctoral work at Johns Hopkins University.
“I believe that BrightFocus can change the trajectory of Alzheimer’s by funding innovative science and increasing public education on the disease. I am honored to be part of such an incredible team,” Dr. Rossi said.

The foundation’s Alzheimer’s Disease Research program, which Dr. Rossi will manage, is currently supporting 133 grants around the world, a $35 million investment.
