Biography

Dr. Diana C. Lozano completed her PhD in physiological optics and vision science at the University of Houston College of Optometry under the mentorship of Dr. Michael D. Twa, where she was introduced to glaucoma research. In 2015, she continued her path toward finessing her glaucoma research interests when she joined Dr. John Morrison’s lab as a postdoctoral fellow, initially on a NIH Research Supplement to Promote Diversity. In Dr. Morrison’s lab, she implemented the controlled elevation of IOP (CEI) model in rodents, where the level and duration of IOP elevation are precisely controlled. This allows quantification of early and time-dependent gene and protein changes following a known level of elevated IOP exposure. In 2020, she joined the faculty at the Casey Eye Institute, where she is interested in understanding the cellular mechanisms implicated in the trabecular meshwork and optic nerve head following exposures to elevated IOP.
